Single Ply Toilet paper Please!

The septic system is heap-leach which moves liquids to a mound of earth behind the garage. Some cast iron piping is still in place and can snag fabric like wipes such as sanitary and baby wipes, those must never be flushed. The septic system will not work properly.

The Grill

The grill is a standard gas grill, the auto start has been working. Be sure to turn off the gas at the bottle when not in use. As with all grills it contains a pressure lockout so that all knobs have to be in the off position before turning on the tank. Reverse the procedure to shutdown. Always close the tank valve when not in use. Extra bottle gas in the garage.

WiFi at the Cabin

The SSID is “Huff” and uses the contact number 9704850245 as the wifi password. This type of system is referred to as “fixed wifi” and arrives at our antenna from the other side of the lake. It is provided by Rise Broadband, Call me at the number above if the system goes slow. The Broadband modem is located in the Bunk Room on top of the corner shelves

Use of Fireplace, smoking and general fire safety

Most of the summer the neighbors consider this hill side, with it’s sudden winds able to rapidly spread a wildfire, too dangerous to have open combustion. Tom Orlandino has an outside grill with special protections that is used some Friday evenings except when the fire danger is rated high. All forms of smoking must be restricted to the driveway outside of the West porch off of the bunk room. We do not use the fireplace in the summer, even for atmosphere.

Cars are arranged so that they can provide rapid escape in the event of a fast moving wildfire. In the most extreme case of dry conditions and upwards of 100 mph winds a fire spread rate would provide less than 4 minutes of time from a start 400 yards away upwind. Your first indication would be the smell of smoke and that is why the neighbors do not want a fireplace fire in the summer.

Of course fireworks are not allowed at the cabin for the obvious reasons.

The Kitchen

Modern but with some 3rd world constraints

The cooktop is glass and cast iron skillet should not be used. Coffee Pot and toaster are underneath the corner lazy susan insert.

The cabin uses an elevated septic system which means there is not a garbage disposal and all kitchen garbage must be protected from exposure to bears and therefore not left on the deck or outside of closed doors.

Trash bags are under the bar, on the kitchen side, which separates the kitchen from the hallway. Trash Can is in the garage and trash from the house may be left there. The door opens with the main key. Garage doors must be closed at all times when not in use. Trash must be removed from the property when you leave unless arrangements are made.

New at the Cabin

This year the cabin has new deck support and the deck is recently stained. A new fridge, Samsung was a disaster, The cabin can sleep 10 comfortably in 4 separate sleeping rooms. There are two showers and three toilets. The cabin has a cooling system using swamp cooler technology. Trees are being removed and there is again a view of the lake from the deck.

The kitchen has new appliances including a dishwasher and new counter tops.
A new Master Bathroom is located in the Master Bedroom.

What to Know about the Cabin at Carter

Location: 3100 Rainbow Lane, Loveland Colorado 80537

The cabin is up a private road which is, in 2022, being regraded with resulting construction issues. Always bumpy, a good reason to ratchet down the boat strap on the trailer and to go slow. By count, it is the 4th house on the left as you ascend the small hill. Look for the driveway opposite the metal Garage on the right. (the first house on the left does not have a driveway onto Rainbow Lane).

The driveway is narrow and the turn is too sharp for most trailers over 25 feet. A new turn out near the Boat House will make spinning the boat around easier. Parking on the gravel next to the deck is OK.
